48th Day, 1 Flamerule 1492 DR

The storm relents somewhat, though the wind and rain continues. The group chooses to trudge through the mud. Halfway through the day, Therdek spots something large moving through the jungle. The group readies up as they realize the likely dinosaur is moving on an intercept path. A tyrannosaur roars and charges forward, only to be stalled by Sindy’s command of the weather: she conjures up a thick fog. The T-Rex enters the mist and begins thrashing. After a few tense moments, it emerges, clutching a humanoid figure in its jaws, and then charges the party. A horde of undead emerges from the mist, shambling after the tyrannosaur.

Unfazed, Doz lassoes the tyrannosaur. Also unfazed, the tyrannosaur chomps Doz. Frantically, the group splits its efforts between fending off the T-Rex to free Doz, slowing the oncoming horde of undead, and not becoming a meal themselves.

Doz calls upon divine might and wrenches himself free from the tyrannosaur’s jaw as one of Sindy’s shatter spells causes the T-Rex to stumble. Doz clambers atop the dinosaur in a moment of divine inspiration, and attempts to lead the T-Rex toward the undead and away from the group.

Despite his best efforts, Doz gets himself bucked from his prize dinosaur, and it flees the combat. The group focuses its efforts on waylaying the oncoming horde of undead, and Goomy turns what remains of the undead.

The day starts to look up as Goomy and Flavius manage to forage a bounty of fresh food, and Musharib leads the group to a relatively dry camping spot. Even the jungle seems quiet and peaceful. For once, Chult appears to be giving the group a moment to breathe.

As Goomy and Doz keep watch during the night, Goomy’s ears pick out familiar heavy footfalls in the distance. Soon after, a terrible roar signals an advancing T-Rex! Goomy and Doz rush to wake the group, and they begin to fan out and hide. Sindy attempts to lure the Tyrannosaur away with some meat from the day’s hunt. The T-Rex draws closer and picks up speed. The group reacts to defend themselves, and the T-Rex begins regurgitating zombies into the fray. The tyrannosaur relentlessly absorbs the groups attacks, blow after blow. It nearly crushes Doz, and knocks Musharib unconscious. When it finally falls, its gullet bursts, and zombies claw their way out.

One by one, the group succumbs to the zombies’ unyielding attacks until only Therdek, Simon, and Sindy remain standing, the shattered corpses of seven zombies at their feet. Goomy intones a prayer, restoring life and vitality to his wounded companions.
