It may be a figment of the party’s collective imagination, but it seems that the rain has dwindled from a full-on assault to a steady downpour. The improved visibility makes it possible for Hamish to find what looks like a well-worn trail or the remains of a flood path. They trudge through the mud until they spy a group of 4 Chultans approaching them from the trail. The Chultans appear armed and lightly armored, but they wave and hail the party once they get into earshot. The travelers identify themselves as part of Chult’s Emerald Enclave, a world-spanning organization favored by druids and dedicated to protecting Chult from the hordes of undead. They–Bati, Chwa, Dengo, and Mezoar–have been assigned here to fence in the undead.
Bati and the others are unconvinced of the party’s desination: to them, Omu is just a fable, a legend–a story that a rare few have the privilege of telling, yet no one can offer any real proof of its existence. Like the sisters who entered the party’s camp previously, the Emerald Enclave are unconvinced that the party is equipped to face Ras Nsi, but they are sympathetic to the party’s quest. They do not believe vanquishing the Ras will end the death curse, for the hordes of undead have been roving Chult for at least a century–long before the death curse began. When the Emerald Enclave hear about the party’s encounter with Asa, the territorial man the party met previously, they express concern, and strangely, ask if anyone was bitten. Asa, they explain, has a habit of being a bit bitey.
Seeing as how the group’s goals align with the Emerald Enclave, they invite Bati and the others to join them. Curiosity gets the better of them, so they join the party and head toward Omu.
