Supplies continue to dwindle while they struggle to find food and resources in the valley itself. Before long, the group spies a Firenewt patrol snaking its way through the valley from Hrakhamar. The group prepares for their advance, bracing themselves for an attack.
After some quick thinking, the group diverts part of the patrol. The remaining patrol advances on the group and charges. After a fierce battle, the firenewts are slain, and the group resumes its march toward Hrakhamar.
During the night, Simon disappears during his watch. Goomy rouses Musharib and Doz to help him find Simon. Doz casually points to Simon, standing amid camp.
Simon explains: he met three monstrous women who called themselves the Sewn Sisters. Two of them appeared to be causing the sleeping Flavius and Therdek great distress. The Sewn Sisters explained that they were curious what the group’s intent was, and that they did not believe them yet capable of defeating someone they called “The Devourer” with a power to match the gods. Nevertheless, they wanted to ensure that they would be on the winning side of the coming conflict, and in return for a few drop’s of Simon’s blood, they offered to provide Simon with some information. Ras Nsi is not the end of their quest. The Devourer awaits them in the Forbidden City. Arrogance is his only weakness. And should they meet the Company of the Yellow Banner, give their regards.
