Hunger sets in after a full day without food. Following their elven senses, Goomy and Flavius come across a grove, overgrown with fruit, and hear the sounds of a wounded animal in the distance. Deciding to investigate, they find the source of the sound, but no animal to be found. They retrieve what appear to be eggs and bring them back to the group. Doz hurriedly prepares a cook fire, but to his dismay, the eggs won’t crack. They appear to be as hard as stone. Goomy decides to to return most of the stones to where he found them. Doz swaddles one, and stores in it in his pack.
Stomachs growl, but the group marches on, hungry as ever. As they hear the sounds of running water ahead, Goomy and Flavius scout ahead to find a small dinosaur drinking at the riverside. The group acts without mercy, and soon after advance to the quarry to bring back their kill. A giant snapping turtle watches lazily from the bank downriver, but the group chooses not to get too close. Fortunately, the fresh kill serves up enough to fill everyone’s stomachs and save enough for the next day’s meal.
The party then decides to up their pace as they march toward Orolunga. Unfortunately, their rapid, noisy movements walks them directly into an ambush of the undead. After a tense combat, the party manages to slay those undead that remain after Goomy turns a number of them.
The group arrives at Orolunga, where they are greated by Zuri, Matata, Abebi, and her son, Za. They offer hospitality, and explain that they are guardians who set pilgrims through three trials before they may ascend Orolunga.
