As the group paddles its way down-river, a crocodile attempts to make a meal out of the patiently fishing Simon Darby. Flavius leaps across the water to defend his longtime friend, only to soon regret the decision as the canoe he lands on is capsized.
The group fights for their lives under water, panicking as Doz is caught in a crocodile’s jaws and dragged deep into the water to be drowned.
Just as Doz’s life begins to slip away, the group frees him from the crocodile’s jaw, and Flavius drags Doz to the surface. The group will need to recover the supplies (those that they can) that were tossed into the river when their canoe capsized before continuing on with their journey.
Simon manages to swim to the riverbed and recover the group’s supplies (mostly) intact. The group rights the canoe and gathers themselves to resume their trip down the river. Simon and Doz worsen throughout the day, as they suffer from throat leeches. Fortunately, after a night’s rest, the symptoms subsided.
