The group takes some extra time to recover before breaking camp. Musharib leads the group along an overgrown, ancient road, making good time throughout most of the day. Goomy and Flavius range to forage for food. As the sun begins to dip low, Goomy finally finds a berry bush, but the fruit refuses to pluck. Thinking better of pressing his luck, Goomy decides to leave the berry alone and return to the group. His legs refuse to move as he realizes vines wrapped up around his legs and begin dragging him down into the soft earth.
The vines constrict around Goomy and poison races through his veins. The group rushes forward and attempts to free Goomy, but he succumbs to the poison. Simon wrenches Goomy free and pulls him from the area. Doz uses his divine abilities to sustain Goomy, then bellows at the ravenous plant monster. It attempts to make a meal of the dwarves, and then directs the vines and plant life to capture prey. The group attempts to escape the sprawling vines as the jungle itself attempts to capture a quick meal. Flavius grabs the group’s jug and says “oil” then douses a flask with oil as it spurts from the jug. Step 2: fire. As the vines succumb to fire, the group launches a counterattack on the vine. As it lashes out, Simon sights down his crossbow and strikes the vine center mass. It writhes and collapses.
